Minneapolis voters will make decisions in 2008 that include: 

  • US President 4-year term
  • US Vice President 4-year term
  • US Senator 6-year term
  • US Representative 2-year term
  • State Representative 2-year term
  • State Supreme Court Associate Justices (2 seats, statewide office, 6-year term)
  • Court of Appeals (6 seats, statewide office, 6-year term)
  • District Justices (# of seats vary by judicial district, 6-year term)
  • Clean Water, Wildlife, Cultural Heritage and Natural Areas State Constitutional Amendment
  • Hennepin County Soil and Water Supervisors
  • Minneapolis School Board
  • Minneapolis Public Schools referendum and vote on changing the school board election process

Absentee voting: If you will be absent from your precinct on election day, if you have an illness or disability, if you are observing a religious holiday or due to religious discipline, or if you are serving as an election judge, you can obtain a ballot from City Hall (dial 311 within Minneapolis) or the Hennepin County Auditor's office (612-348-5151).
Absentee voters may vote in person during the 30 days prior to a regularly scheduled election, or complete the entire process by mail. If you're not pre-registered, you can apply for an absentee ballot and you will receive voter registration materials with your ballot.
