About the League of Women Voters of Minneapolis

The League of Women Voters of Minneapolis is a trusted, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering voters and strengthening democracy at the local level since 1919. We serve Minneapolis by providing clear, unbiased information about elections, public policy, and civic participation.

As part of the broader League of Women Voters network, our local League focuses on issues that directly impact Minneapolis residents. We believe that informed, connected and engaged communities are essential to a healthy democracy, and we work to ensure that every voter has access to the information and opportunities they need to participate.

Nonpartisan Voter Education
We provide accurate, accessible information about voting in Minneapolis, including how to register, where to vote, and what’s on the ballot. Our goal is to ensure every voter can participate with confidence.

Candidate Forums and Election Resources
We host and share candidate forums so voters can hear directly from those running for office. We also provide guides and resources to help voters understand key issues and candidates.

Research and Advocacy
Through our Positions for Action, we study important issues affecting Minneapolis and take positions based on careful research and consensus. Our advocacy work focuses on policies that support strong, equitable, and transparent governance.

Community Engagement
We bring people together through events like Civic Buzz, the Democracy Series, and Women Defending Democracy. These programs create space for learning, discussion, and meaningful civic involvement.
